"It's not going to be easy, it's going to be worth it." - Unknown
As Christ Followers we often assume Jesus is leading us into a life without struggles or suffering. It seems as though we're only drawn to the promises that appear to make life easier. The sad thing about this way of thinking is; nothing about Jesus' life was easy. So how can we convince ourselves that following Christ should be any different? I believe Jesus' invitation to follow him was never presented as an easy way out. Rather Jesus' invitation was something worth the risk and struggles. This means, following Christ is actually harder at times rather than easier. Not to mention most of God's promises are fulfilled while maintaining our faith in times of suffering. For God never promised an easy journey leading to eternity. He promised that if we will place our faith in him, the reward at the end of our journey will be worth it.
Perhaps we need to take Jesus' advice and count the cost. Perhaps we need to stop pursuing a life of ease and begin pursuing a life of worth.
